Key Pests in Daisy Hill

The 3 key pests in Daisy Hill are:

  1. Termites
  2. Ants
  3. Spiders

Warm and wet weather conditions create the ideal breeding environment for many pests. Termites in particular thrive in moist environments, and with bushland covering much of Daisy Hill, they also have plenty of food. Homes are at risk from termite attack all year round, which means regular termite inspections are essential.

Ants can be a problem during the warmer months, both inside and outside. Some species of ant are even capable of destroying lawns and excavating underneath pavers, so it pays to get ant problems sorted! We offer a range of ant treatments that are targeted to the kinds of ants found in Daisy Hill.

Homeowners living close to Daisy Hill Conservation Park may find they regularly encounter spiders in their home. A general pest treatment, known as a ‘spider spray’, is a quick and effective way to keep them out.

Termite Inspections and Termite Treatments - Daisy Hill

With warmth, moisture and food in such supply, we always recommend for our customers in Daisy Hill to have a termite management plan in place for their property.

This means that as well as having a termite inspection each year, it is recommended that a termite management system is installed to minimise the likelihood of termite attack. While there are several different kinds of termite treatment, two common options are to treat the the soil around the home or install termite baits around and under the property.

If there is no termite management system in place, having a termite inspection twice a year is the safest option.

Daisy Hill - Interesting Facts, Weather and Pest Control Recommendations

Daisy Hill is 25km southeast of Brisbane City, with the Pacific Motorway to the west and bushland to the east. The bush between Daisy Hill and Redland Bay on the east coast is home to a significant koala population.

Daisy Hill Conservation Park is an important landmark, which in 1986 was declared the first State Forest Park in Queensland. It protects the habitat of koalas and other wildlife in this suburb of Brisbane. The park is popular due to its extensive network of hiking, cycling and horse riding trails. Inside the park is the Koala Centre, which protects an important area of eucalyptus forest and paperbark wetlands and gives visitors the chance to see koalas up close in their natural habitat. The Queensland Government is executing its ten-year plan to improve the use and enjoyment of the koala bushland area, which will be completed in 2027.

The Yugumbeh people are the traditional owners of the land, with European settlers arriving in 1868. The Dennis Family and later the Shailer family owned and farmed large portions of the land. By the 1920s Daisy Hill had become a small and well established settlement, with a butchery, a blacksmith shop and a post mistress serving the community of mostly farmers and fruit growers.

Daisy Hill has a typical sub-tropical climate with wet summers and warm winters – ideal conditions for pests! Having a regular pest treatment every spring helps homeowners and businesses keep pest numbers down. Installing a termite protection system to protect your home from termite attack is strongly recommended.
