Most homeowners find that a general pest treatment once a year keeps the usual pests, such as spiders and cockroaches, at bay. It’s recommended that homeowners also have a termite inspection at least once a year, so many customers arrange to have their annual pest treatment and termite inspection carried out at the same time to save money.

Key Pests in Cornubia

The 3 key pests in Cornubia are:

  1. Termites
  2. Ants
  3. Spiders

Due to the subtropical climate, termites are the number one pest of concern. As they search for new food sources all year round, they present a constant threat to people’s homes. Having regular termite inspections, at least once a year, is the best way to keep your home safe from termites.

Warmer weather will often see ants trailing through the house, especially around kitchen areas. They can be a real pain! Ants are also notoriously tricky to get rid of. Our general pest treatments keep ant numbers down, while for specific problems, we have a number of specialist ant treatments that can provide a long-lasting solution.

Homeowners living close to Cornubia Forest Park may find that spiders make a regular appearance, especially after wet periods which allows insect numbers to build up, which means lots of food for spiders! Spider problems are easily resolved by having a general pest treatment once a year, usually in spring.

Of course, cockroaches are a problem for everyone, no matter where you live!

Termite Inspections and Termite Treatments - Cornubia

The warm temperature and humid climate make the perfect conditions for termites. They love moisture and lots of sources of wood, which are in great supply in Cornubia. Unfortunately termites can do significant damage to a home in as little 6 months.

The best way to keep termites out is to install a termite management system. A number of termite treatment options are available, including liquid soil treatments that are injected into the soil around the home or termite baits.

Without a termite management system in place, an annual termite inspection is a must, with twice yearly inspections strongly recommended.

Cornubia - Interesting Facts, Weather and Pest Control Recommendations

Cornubia is a small and relatively new urban subdivision where California Creek meets the Logan River, in a location that is home to the Yugambeh people.

Early European settlers used the land for dairy farming, which later expanded to include timber getting and crop growing by the 1920s. After it was subdivided in the late 1950s, the Queensland Government together with Logan City Council purchased part of the land, due to its environmental importance. Located in the north-west of the suburb, the Cornubia Forest Nature Park is a 196-hectare nature refuge that aims to conserve native species of plants and animals while offering bushwalking and mount biking trails.

Home to around 7000 residents, Cornubia has a relaxed feel and and is a popular place to live for those commuting to Brisbane or the Gold Coast, especially those with young families.

Its typical sub-tropical climate with wet summers and warm winters makes it the perfect home for all kinds of pests. Having a general pest treatment (known as a ‘spider spray’) once a year will keep most pests at bay. The significant amount of bushland and parks in the area make Cornubia a hotspot for termite activity. Homes should ideally have a termite management system installed and inspections are needed at least once, if not twice a year.
