A general pest treatment is one of our most popular services with homeowners. Sometimes called a ‘spider spray’, this annual treatment is applied to external walls and floors/decks to keep pests outdoors. It is effective against pest such as spiders, cockroaches and silverfish and comes with a 12 month warranty.
Termites are the biggest concern for homeowners, which is why it’s recommended that Australian homes are inspected for termite activity at least once a year. A professional termite inspection can be scheduled in combination with a general pest treatment; having the two services at the same time saves time and reduces the overall cost.

Key Pests in Browns Plains
The 3 key pests in Browns Plains are:
The top pest of concern for homeowners is always termites. The conditions in Browns Plains are ideal for them to thrive, as they have everything they need – plenty of food (timber found in bushland and parks), moisture and warmth. They are always looking for new sources of food, and people’s homes have plenty of timber for them to find! This is why having an annual termite inspection is an essential step towards protecting a home.
Ants are a nuisance for many people, particularly during the warmer months when they can lay down long trails connecting food sources (typically from bins and kitchens) to their nest. We offer a range of professional ant treatments that can get ants under control easily. AllPro Pest Control also provide professional fire ant treatments.
Spiders are present throughout they year, although those living close to bushland and parks may encounter them a bit more frequently, especially huntsman spiders that live in crevices such as tree bark. Having a ‘spider spray’ once a year is a quick and easy way to keep them out of a home.
Termite Inspections and Termite Treatments - Browns Plains
Termite pressure is high in suburbs within Logan City, which is why we recommend that customers living in Browns Plains have a termite management plan in place for their home.
Having regular termite inspections every year is the first step towards protecting a home from termite damage. Termites can easily gain access to a home without being seen, which is why 12 months is the minimum recommended interval between inspections. The second step is to install a termite management system. This is a protective system that minimises the chance of termites finding and attacking a property. Whilst a few different options are available, the two main types of termite treatment are soil treatments and baiting systems. With soil treatments, a termiticide liquid is applied to the soil around the property, forming a “termite barrier”. With baiting systems, bait stations are placed in the ground at regular intervals around the perimeter of the property. Termites will find these baits and attack them, rather than the home. Both options are highly effective at reducing the chance of termites attacking the home, but the best option will depend on the construction of the home, its location, and a number of other factors.
Browns Plains - Interesting Facts, Weather and Pest Control Recommendations
Browns Plains is around 30 km directly south of Brisbane CBD and is well connected to motorways on each side, with Mount Lindesay Highway acting as the western boundary of the suburb. It has become popular in recent years with people looking to buy close to the city.
Before European settlement, the land was home to the Yugumbeh people, who are the traditional custodians of the land. The bushland, creeks and waterways they inhabited now sit alongside commercial hubs and residential developments. Settlers arrived in the 1870s, with timber and shingle splitting being the main trades. The township remained small until the 1970s when land developers constructed the first housing estate. Interestingly, the Browns Plains Tavern opened in 1976, exactly a hundred years after the first tavern was built by the first settlers.
The building of the Grand Plaza shopping centre in 1994 marked a significant turning point for the area, with a further extension granted in 2006 taking the total number of stores to 170. Today, Browns Plains is regarded as an up and coming area, a good place for first-time buyers looking for easy transport links to the city and airport. For all the commercial facilities along Browns Plains Road, the suburb is home to many parks, including Acacia Park (pictured above) and Forest Glen Park.
Winter in Browns Plains is much the same as other suburbs in Logan City, with long, humid summers and crisp winters with plenty of sunshine. This type of climate is ideal for many pests, which thrive in damp, warm conditions brought about by the summer and autumn rains. Having a general pest treatment every year, usually in the spring, will keep pest numbers down. But for termites, installing a termite protection system is recommended given the high level of termite activity in the area.
